A Night of Elegance & Bubbles: Our Black Tie Sparkling Dinner

There are few things more magical than an evening dressed in black tie, surrounded by friends, fine food, and four beautifully different sparkling wines. Our recent Black Tie Sparkling Dinner delivered all that and more—a night of discovery, laughter, and a touch of friendly competition to end the 2025 events.

A Sparkling Welcome

We welcomed everyone with a Kir Royale, an elegant classic that set the tone for what was to come. As the crème de cassis mingled with the bubbles, conversations began to flow and anticipation filled the room.

Four Glasses, Four Styles, Countless Opinions

Awaiting each guest at the table were four mystery sparkling wine samples—poured, chilled, and ready to be explored. The line-up included:

  • Cava
  • English Sparkling Wine
  • Crémant
  • Champagne

But there was a twist: no one knew which glass was which.

Guests had to trust their senses—aroma, texture, acidity, bubbles, flavour—to form their own ranking and ultimately try to match each glass to its sparkling style.

Would the Champagne be instantly recognisable?
Would the English sparkling outshine the rest?
Would the Crémant trick even the confident tasters?
And would the vibrant fruit and freshness of Cava stand out on its own?

The room soon buzzed with lively debate. Some were sure of their choices from the first sip, while others swirled and re-tasted with detective-level focus. Every guess sparked a new conversation. This year – Champagne was triumphant.

Revealing the Mystery

As dinner was served, the big reveal began.

  • Crémant (Crémant de Loire, Chateau de l’Aulee),
  • Cava (Codorniu Vintage),
  • English Sparkling (Nyetimber Classic Cuvee)
  • Champagne (Alfred Gratien Bru)

A mini quiz for each bottle begun and the winner won a bottle to take home!

More Than a Tasting

We ran our charity raffle for Children’s Respite Trust and raised £160 in the room. We did the draw to win the hamper for the memberships and Veronica and Robert were the winners.

The evening was finished with teas, coffees and a handcrafted Baileys truffle from Deliciously Sweet chocolate.

A big thank you to everyone as that wraps our 2025 events!
