Friday 13 turned out to be a great date for a wine tasting!
No need for superstition as all the wines were delicious. We had a white, rosé and red Malbec – if you haven’t tried the white and the rose before – its well worth it!
We started with Santa Julia Organic Torrontés Maipú 2021 a floral crisp white wine with citrus, pear and peach flavours with a spicy finish.
The White Malbec is so pale it looks almost like water in the glass! We had Trevento White Malbec Luján de Cuyo 2022 ideal with seafood dishes.
The rosé was Trevento Rosé Malbec Luján de Cuyo 2022 so the same producer as the white version but very different – a delicate pink colour with strawberry and summer fruit aromas and flavours – gorgeous!
We then moved on to the more traditional red wines – a full bodied red Malbec – Vinalba Reserve Malbec, Uco Valley 2021 with intense aromas of ripe black fruit with a hint of smoke and rich flavours of blackcurrant and plum with toasty vanilla oak.
And finally we sipped DV Catena Tinto Historico Cabinet Franc San Carlos 2020. This wine has notes of ripe red berries with a touch of eucalyptus and black pepper. The flavours include raspberry and blackcurrant, and slightly herby.
All in all a great tasting which encouraged guests to linger and chat long after the wines were poured. Thank you to all who came!
All the wines are readily available from Tesco, Majestic Wines and Waitrose.
